The Eumundi market, Australia’s premier artisan market, offers a great variety of quality locally made produce and products. Combine this with local entertainment, friendly locals and beautiful surroundings, it is one of the highlights of the beautiful Sunshine Coast. This article looks at the market’s history, what to find, opening hours, how to get there and what else to do in Eumundi.
The market began at the CWA Hall in 1979 as an idea of holding a European style ‘artisans and farmers’ market in Eumundi, focussing on locally made goods. This focus is key to the market’s domestic and international success.
There is plenty to find at the market to satisfy all, including:
A lot of the products sold at the market are also handmade, including the Topshow hats, which are made locally in Eumundi. And when you’re not shopping or eating, each week there are a number of local performers entertaining the crowds.
The market is open Wednesday (8am - 1.30pm) and Saturday (7am-2pm).
We recommend you to arrive as early as possible to avoid the big crowds, especially if you plan to shop for some fresh produce – it can sell out quickly!
Eumundi is located in the heart of the Noosa hinterland. There are a number of options available to get to Eumundi.
By car - the easiest option:
By public transport - another good option:
If you need a break from the market, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs that you can visit within walking distance. Our tip is to check out the historic pub, Joe’s Waterhole, just opposite the market. Rebuilt in 1926 after a local fire swept through in 1924, it provides a nice historic backdrop to the charming town and a great opportunity to mix with the local characters.
